Auckland for Kids visits The Corsini Exhibition at the Auckland Art Gallery
PAST EXHIBITION – NO LONGER SHOWING
The Corsini Collection: A Window on Renassance Floreonce exhibition is from the private collection of the eminent Corsini family in Florence, Italy, and features Renaissance and Baroque painting by artists such as Botticelli, Andrea del Sarto, Caravaggio and Pontormo.
We especially liked the Family Trail and Arno the Corsini family dog that pointed out interesting things about the exhibition for the kids (and the adults). The family trail and Arno made the exhibition fun for the kids and meant that they didn’t ask us to hurry up and finish. It took the kids a while to find one of the missing pictures in the paintings and we had to do a few laps of the exhibition before we found it together.
The exhibition provides a window on the Corsini’s continuing passion for collecting art, their support of artists, and their ongoing loyalty to the city of Florence, which has prevailed through the devastation of WWll and the inescapable forces of nature during the flood of Florence in 1966.
There are portraits, landscape, mythological and religious paintings, as well as sculpture, works on paper, furniture, costumes, embroidery, games, kitchen equipment and a lavish dining room set to see.
There are lots of interesting things for a family day out at the Auckland Art Gallery. As well as the Corsini Exhibition you can also visit Yayoi Kusama: The obliteration room for FREE which is on in the Todd Foundation Creative Learning Centre currently.
The Corsini Exhibition is only on at the Auckland Art Gallery until Sunday 21 January 2018. Admission for children is FREE and for adults is $19. For more information on the exhibition see: www.aucklandartgallery.com/whats-on/exhibition/the-corsini-collection
