Come and join a group of friendly locals restoring and looking after Wainoni Park.
Friends of Wainoni Park meet every Thursday morning from mid February until mid-December (we often have breaks over the school holidays). There is a range of tasks to suit a variety of fitness levels. This is a great opportunity to meet others while caring for Greenhithe’s environment.
Activities include:
-Releasing recently planted and established native trees from pest plants (weeds)
-Preparing areas for native plants
-Planting native plants
-Spreading mulch around native plantings
-Pest control
-Looking after the community edible garden
-Removing rubbish from the park
-Carrying out wildlife surveys
-Getting fit whilst forming new friendships.
Please bring a cold drink, sunhat and wear shoes with a good grip.
Long sleeves and trousers are required for some of the activities. Morning tea is supplied.

The winning images of Wildlife Photographer of the Year 59 will be announced at the Awards ceremony in London in October 2023, and this exhibition at Auckland Museum will be the first time they’re on display in Aotearoa.

Step inside a fantastical labyrinth of light and colour. After their sell-out success in 2015, the Architects of Air return to Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland this April with their newest inflatable sculpture, ARBORIALIS Luminarium.
This colourful world will delight visitors of all ages and is the perfect place to wander, explore, relax or find an oasis of tranquility in the twists and turns of each tunnel within the luminarium.
Inspired by the natural world, simulating the wonder and awe of being lost in a forest, ARBORIALIS Luminarium features a kaleidoscope of colour, light and an ethereal soundscape from the Song of Danu by Irish Composer Dr Michael Morris.
Children aged 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver who attends the event with the child. One adult per every four children. Children 3 years and under are admitted free of charge.
Accessible to wheelchairs.
You can book in advance for a set time, or walk up on the day you choose. Please note as this event has been extremely popular in the past, we recommend you book priority queue tickets.

This colourful world will delight visitors of all ages and is the perfect place to wander, explore, relax or find an oasis of tranquility in the twists and turns of each tunnel within the luminarium.
Inspired by the natural world, simulating the wonder and awe of being lost in a forest, ARBORIALIS Luminarium features a kaleidoscope of colour, light and an ethereal soundscape from the Song of Danu by Irish Composer Dr Michael Morris.
Children aged 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult caregiver who attends the event with the child. One adult per every four children. Children 3 years and under are admitted free of charge.
Accessible to wheelchairs.

Alongside the Bricks Show, dive into a world of literary delights with our pre-loved book sale, while also indulging your sweet tooth with delicious treats from our bake sale.
