Learn Poi E - Matariki Workshop

Te Ara Rama Matariki Light Trail

Take a hīkoi through the heart of Glen Innes, and Maybury Park along a flax-lined pathway that defines the trail along the Ōmaru River. This leads into light animations and installations telling stories of Matariki through tukutuku inspired design, and fauna and flora imagery. The lights are turned on at 6pm and it’s a great free activity for all ages. Nightly entertainment runs 7pm to 8pm featuring local and national performers.

Ice Age: Collision Course Party - Aotea Square Ice Rink and Ice Slide

Life size polar bears, penguins, and seals will set the scene for the return of the sparkling ice rink and exhilarating 35-metre-long double-laned ice slide. The Penguin Kids Zone lets newbies find their feet in a smaller enclosed area, before taking to the ice in the main rink. Helmets are available free of charge and skating frames can be hired for beginners.
This weekend Aotea Ice Rink is heading into space to celebrate theupcoming Ice Age movie. Come dressed in a space themed costume and be in to win some great prizes. There’ll be Ice Age face painting, a find the acorn treasure hunt and colouring competitions.
