The Kapa Haka Super 12s competition returns once again for Matariki Festival 2016. This iconic event is fun, dynamic and a celebration of being Māori.
Te Ara Rama Matariki Light Trail
(108 Line Road, Maybury Reserve, Maybury Street, Glen Innes
Saturday 9 July 2016: 6:00pm to 9:00pm (FINAL NIGHT)
Take a hīkoi through the heart of Glen Innes, and Maybury Park along a flax-lined pathway that defines the trail along the Ōmaru River. This leads into light animations and installations telling stories of Matariki through tukutuku inspired design, and fauna and flora imagery. The lights are turned on at 6pm and it’s a great free activity for all ages. Nightly entertainment runs 7pm to 8pm featuring local and national performers.
The final night will close at 9.00pm with fireworks spectacular 'Te Ara Rama Matariki' choreographed to traditional and contemporary music.

There are six great challenges (from fitness and monitoring animal movements to animal identification and poaching prevention) to practice on your training course – skills and conservation knowledge rangers must possess to help animals in the wild. Rangers 'Rae' and 'Raf' will be there to guide you through and give you pointers along the way to help you become an official ranger.
