The blockbuster science exhibition from Te Papa and Weta Workshop is on at Auckland Zoo this summer. The obliteration room is a family-friendly  installation by one of the world’s most popular, well-loved artists, Yayoi Kusama.  Beginning as a stark white interior in December, it encourages you to transform the space with a rainbow of brightly coloured dots. Watch as, over time, a dizzying blur of colour is built up by visitors applying brightly coloured stickers in various sizes to every surface.

Fitzroy Family Fun Festival

In 2008, the Great Barrier Island FitzRoy Family Festival was born. Offering families a great alcohol-free alternative to the Mussel fest that runs on the same day at the FitzRoy Boat club. Featuring craft and local produce alongside yummy food stalls.there’s fun entertainment for children with the likes of face-painting, Bouncy Castle, Kids races & great live music. Bring along a picnic, find a shady spot and enjoy the day with family and friends. Unfortunately, the family dog has to stay at home for this one as there is a no dogs policy in place on the domain.
