Here is our pick of the BEST places to take the kids strawberry picking in Auckland. 

Sometimes the strawberry farms can be closed due to bad weather or lack of fruit, so you are best to ring to check they will be open on the day you are planning to go with your family. 

Remember to bring your hat and sunblock with you on warm days. 


Good Planet

Enjoy a fun day out picking your own (PYO) strawberries from October to April each year.  As well as strawberries you can pick your own raspberries (Nov to Apr),  blackberries and boysenberries (Dec to Jan) and blueberries (Dec to Feb) too!  Enjoy real fruit ice cream, farm fresh dishes and coffee from their cafe, adventure park, splash park, train ride, and more family-friendly fun at Good Planet!  

Entry is from $5 per person including all-you-can-eat while picking (kids under 5 years old are FREE). Buckets are supplied, you just need to fill them! Strawberry bucket prices vary throughout the season.

If you are making it a full day out for the family, then check out Muriwai Beach or Bethells Beach which are only a 20 to 25 minute drive away from Good Planet!


Strawberry Hills Bombay Farm

Pick your own strawberries at Strawberry Hill Farm in Bombay is open every day or until picked out for the day.  There is no entry fee to enter the strawberry patch, and you pay $30.00 to pick a bucket packed full of strawberries. There is nothing better than a child getting the chance to harvest and eat strawberries.  They have a tuckshop and food truck serving real fruit ice cream, smoothies and waffles and a cute helicopter play area. And afterwards why not go on the 10 minute trek through the next paddock, over a rocky hill to find a hidden waterfall. 

You will be able to pick raspberries and blackberries later this season too.  


 

Danube Orchards

The Rakich family open Danube Orchards, their outdoor hydroponic strawberry farm to the public each year, subject to weather permitting. It’s a short season, as most of our berries are marked for local markets.

Clevedon Strawberries is a family owned business where you can pick your own strawberries.  As well as their yummy fresh strawberries, they have freshly made ice creams, waffles and coffee available to buy.

Cost: Entry is $7 per person and kids 5 and under are FREE. Strawberries are charged by the kilo. Bring your hat and sunscreen from home.



Phil Greig Strawberries

Pick your own strawberries. Afterwards you can buy fruit ice cream and yoghurt, gelato, smoothies and coffee.

Cost: Entry fee is set at $6.50 per adult, kids under 10 free. Strawberries are charged at $8.50 per kilo.  There is no entry fee for children under 10 when accompanied by a parent. You will be supplied with a bucket, but its a good idea to bring a hat and sunblock.

Strawberry fields with a Farm Store in Waitakere owned by the Zaknich family, open for pick your own in summer. It is best to bring your own containers to pick into for transporting home securely, and to ensure they don’t turn into jam from the heat before you get home.

Cost: FREE entry and you pay per kilo for strawberries you pick.
