The brand-new international exhibition Secrets of Stonehenge comes exclusively to Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland War Memorial Museum in December 2021. Featuring more than 300 ancient artefacts from more than 4,000 years ago including stone tools, antler picks, pottery, gold and bronze objects, these artefacts and the latest scientific evidence reveal the secrets behind one of the world’s most inspiring and sacred sites.
The new exhibition Love & Loss, from Auckland Museum’s rich Documentary Heritage collection, explores expressions of love, loss, hope and longing from the 1800’s through the world wars up to present day.
Tāmaki Herenga Waka: Stories of Auckland will open to the public at Auckland Museum on Thursday 11 March 2021 to share the diverse stories of the people and place that is Tāmaki Makaurau.
Auckland Museum is set to host the tallest LEGO® brick model in the Southern Hemisphere this summer.
A major survey of contemporary Māori art from the 1950s to the present day is being developed by Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki to open this summer. The exhibition will feature over 300 artworks by 120 Māori artists, Toi Tū Toi Ora: Contemporary Māori Art and will be free to visit.
