Masi, ngatu, hiapo, siapo, tapa, kapa – there are as many ways to decorate bark cloth as there are Moana islands.
Join Auckland Central City Library to create designs from around the Pacific, using different techniques including stencilling, rubbing, printing and painting. The final part of the workshop will be for participants to work on a large collaborative masi.
Wear clothes for painting or bring a smock.
Event takes place in the Atrium on the second floor. No food or drink (except water) is allowed on the second floor.
This event ties in with the Waitui Ātea Saltwater Realm exhibition on the second floor of the library.
