Help to create a picture of what birds are on Waiheke, and the world during eBird’s Global Big Birding Day!
This is an annual celebration of the birds around you, and this year is no different.
While not everyone may be able to leave home to bird this year, it’s still an opportunity to check in with the birds in and around where you live.
Join Te Korowai o Waiheke and people from more than 170 countries on 9 May and be a part of a global birding community by sharing what birds you see around you with eBird.
Participating is easy.
- Wherever you are, you can be a part of the global community of birders and record them in the eBird app or website. Create a free eBird account through the eBird mobile app. Sign up here. It’s 100% free from start to finish.
- Watch and listen out for birds in your backyard or local area on Saturday 9th May
- Enter what you see and hear in eBird.
- Watch the sightings roll in! People from more than 170 countries will be recording the birds near them on the Global Big Day page – ebird.org/globalbigday.
Global Big Day runs from midnight to midnight New Zealand local time zone. E-Bird is a partnership project between Cornell University and the New Zealand Bird Atlas.
