Event Details

Come join Experience Marine Reserves and kayak through the mangrove forests of Motu Manawa marine reserve and up into Te Auaunga Creek. Hear about the importance of marine protection from Experiencing Marine Reserves, observe nature and local wildlife on display, learn about freshwater monitoring and audit beach and wetland litter with Whitebait Connection .

This event is a taster into kayaking and freshwater monitoring – expect to spend ~50mins on the water. Fun for the whole whānau.

Please only register if you can commit to the full 2.5hr timeslot. Sea conditions permitting – we will run with light rain. Koha/donations are appreciated – there will be facilities for cash and eftpos on site.

Children younger than 8 will not be able to participate. Children aged 8-12 need to have a confident adult in the back of their kayak. Children under 13 need an adult companion.

Registrations are essential.
Group A: 8.30am to 11.00am
Group B: 9.00am to 11.30am
Group C: 10.30am to 1.00pm
Please arrive at least 15mins prior and check in at the tent. If you are running late please call 021 0645125
Numbers limited to 48 – split into three groups.

Please note that the maximum weight for the sea kayaks is 120kg per person.

Cancellation policy: If you give less than 24 hrs notice when cancelling your registration or you no show without a valid excuse (i.e COVID, or other illness/emergency) then you will be sent an invoice of $20 per person.
