Azabu at Mission Bay restaurant
Azabu a popular Japanese Peruvian restaurant in Ponsonby, has recently opened a new restaurant Azabu at Mission Bay in the historic Mission House Site overlooking Mission Bay beach and near the playground for a family dinner.
Auckland for Kids visited the new modern Japanese restaurant Azabu for a family dinner. We enjoyed their modern take on Japanese food and the grownups in the group especially liked their ceviche tasting platter, chicken karaage, crispy pork belly, steamed buns and eggplant tempura.
Although the restaurant is aimed more at grownups, we found Azabu at Mission was a family-friendly-restaurant for our kids and teens. The kids menu was well received by our children and the generous portioned Kids Bento Box was envied by some of the adults in our group.
The courtyard area of the restaurant has a retractable roof which turns it into a lovely spot for an afternoon lunch or early evening dinner on a summers day. The playground is close by, so older kids can head off to play while you linger and chat, however if you have little kids it’s too far away to do this.
They have an Azabu style long lunch Harajuku Brunch available on the weekends for groups of four people which we are keen to go back to try one weekend.
Azabu at Mission Bay is located at 44 Tamaki Drive, Mission Bay, Auckland and is open from Wednesday to Sunday and closed on Monday and Tuesday.
