Auckland’s tamariki are spoilt this Artweek Auckland 2018, with workshops across the city to get their creative minds spinning, in drawing or painting classes from 6 to 14 October 2018.

The 6 best events at Artweek Auckland 2018 for kids are:

1. Workshops on the Wharf

Silo Park, Wynyard Quarter,
Sunday 7 and Sunday 14 October 2018
Get the kids involved in a range of activities from creative arts & crafts to practical skills and sport activities next to the play area, or in the kiosk if it is raining.


2. Make | Do

New Zealand Maritime Museum, Viaduct Harbour
Saturday 6 & Sunday 7 October
This 1 hour children’s painting class is designed to get kids creative juices flowing. And offer a new experience to learn to draw and paint right at the water’s edge with an experienced tutor. You will learn how to draw and paint a seascape scene step by step. They will leave with a one-of-a-kind painting and the skills to keep creative at home. 3. Friday after Five

Clarence St, Devonport
Friday 12 October
Devonport is celebrating its place as an arts destination this ARTWEEK by launching GLOW@Artweek with a killer art-themed street party closing off Clarence street, moving in the food trucks, bringing the beats, and getting arty on a grand scale. Good for all the family.


4. Kids Workshop

Every second Saturday of the month we hold a FREE children workshop. Join us in October as part of Artweek as we use found materials and objects to create pieces of wearable art inspired by the artists in the ‘Handshake 4’ exhibition.



5. Kids Drawing Workshop

Sanderson Contemporary Gallery, Newmarket
Saturday 13 Octobert 2018
Come and join us in the gallery for a drop-in drawing workshop inspired by Stephen Ellis’s large scale ballpoint pen drawings in his exhibition Headforemost. Stephen Ellis will be bringing in his intricate cardboard models which participants can interact with and get inspired to create their own ball point pen masterpiece.
All ages welcome.


6. Quick Draw

Freyberg Place, High St
Tuesday 9 October 2018
The friendly Quickdraw Sketch Gang artists draw 10 minute portraits on the spot of your face, your kid’s face or your pet’s face, each with their own unique style from zombies to very serious pencil sketches.
