HOUSE TO HOUSE launches in March 2020 to help families of unwell children

Kicking off this month in March 2020, Ronald McDonald House CharitiesÂź (RMHCÂź) New Zealand are calling on Kiwis to grab their sneakers and get moving for a good cause by signing up to House to House a month-long fundraising event which gives New Zealand the chance to get active while supporting families of unwell children.

House to House encourages New Zealand to run, walk, cycle or swim at least 210km (roughly 10,000 steps per day), which is the average distance a family travels from their home in a month to a Ronald McDonald House. By matching every kilometre to a $1 donation, RMHC¼ New Zealand will be able to give a night’s accommodation to a family when they need it most.

Providing families a “home-away-from-home”, RMHC New Zealand offers a safe haven for families to retreat to after facing the clinical world of medicine. Every year, they provide over 4,600 Kiwis across New Zealand support and accommodation free of charge.

Commenting on the House to House campaign, RMHC New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Wayne Howett said: “We are aiming to raise over $200,000 and have as many kiwis as possible participate and fundraise $210 each. This will help us provide a family in need with a night’s accommodation, a meal and essential items when they arrive at the house.”

“2019 was our busiest year on record and sadly it will only continue to get busier. Covering 10,000 steps a day would hit the monthly target. So, let’s clock up the kilometres, get active, and fundraise for the families of unwell children who desperately need our support.”

You can sign up online at www.housetohouse.org.nz as a team, family or individual. To keep track of your KMs, use one of the free online apps or alternatively, you can log your distances manually.
