Their are lot’s of exciting activities to entertain the kids in the  Spring School Holidays 2023  in Wellington, New Zealand. We will be updating this page with more events throughout the school holidays, so remember to check back later on to see new events that have been added.

Jurassic World by Brickman

Make sure you check out the largest LEGO® brick exhibition in New Zealand when you visit Wellington. Inside Jurassic World by Brickman you’ll encounter over 50 large-scale dinosaurs, props and scenes from the blockbuster Jurassic World franchise, including life-size dinosaurs in our petting zoo, a Brachiosaurus you can walk underneath, minifig dioramas, and photo opportunities to recreate some of the most iconic moments from the films — including getting up close and personal with 2 life-size velociraptors! You can build their own mini Jurassic World and dinosaur footprints, create hybrid dinosaurs, help assemble enormous LEGO® brick mystery mosaics, and even build your own escape vehicles to get away from our 1 tonne T.rex model!

You can’t miss the all-new life-size LEGO brick dinosaur- the fearsome Baryonyx! Weighing in at 400kg, this newest Jurassic World by Brickman dinosaur took 790 hours to design and was created using 102,317 LEGO® bricks. She is 4.8m long, over 1.5m wide and stands 2.5m high.

In the school holidays there is also a Jurassic World Family Movie Night on the Tuesday 3 October too!

7th Wellington Children’s Exhibition

Dates: 23 September to 7 October 2023: 10am to 5pm daily

Wellington Museum is hosting the 7th Children’s Art exhibition which is displaying all the submitted artworks from tamariki aged 3 to 12 years.

New Zealand Parliament Kids in the House Tours

Dates: 23 September to 8 October: 11am session or 1pm session
Where: New Zealand Parliament, Wellington
School Holiday Event Information

The 45 minute “Kids in the House” tour runs during the school holidays and is a fun, interactive, tour designed specifically to engage younger visitors aged 5 to 12 years old. Children taking a tour will also receive a FREE ‘Passport to Parliament’ booklet as part of the experience. As they make their way around the Parliament buildings they can track their progress with stickers and get their passports stamped with an official Beehive stamp when they return to the Visitor Centre.

The guided tour will visit the following locations, where possible: Debating Chamber, Legislative Council Chamber (LCC), Grand Hall, Parliament House foyer, Speaker’s corridor, Parliamentary Library, Galleria, Select Committee room, Beehive theatrette and Banquet Hall. 

Whānau fun: Autism NZ art display and LEGO

Where: Wellingon Foyer, Te Papa, Wellington

Check out the creativity of LEGO art in a display by autistic kids in association with Autism NZ.  Enjoy the creativity of LEGO art on display and construct your own imaginative piece of LEGO magic from the thousands of pieces of bricks available for you to go wild!

The Grumpiest Child in the World – Wellington City

The Grumpiest Child in the World is an endearing tale of self-discovery based on Finegan Kruckemeyer’s international award-winning play performed by Nōku te Ao Capital E’s National Theatre for Children

Natalie Briddling is a world-class grump (according to her mum). Wanting to stand out, she’s hōhā with feeling average, ordinary and middling so she sets out on “probably the most amazing adventure ever!” Her magical journey takes her down an awa, up a maunga, meeting strange and wondrous beings along the way. Characters who in the beginning frustrate and anger her might turn out to be new friends.

Koinobori Windsock Drop-in Workshops

Let’s Get Digital! School Holiday Workshops

Wellington Zoo Holiday Programme

Keeping your kids entertained during the school holidays might sometimes feel like wrangling wild animals, so why not let the professionals take over? The Zoo’s school holiday programme is for kids from 5 to 12. They will get to meet the animals, learn from Zoo staff and get sneak peeks behind the scenes.

2023 WOW World of WearableArt Show

Where: Otaki Market, 58 Main Highway, Otaki

Otaki Kids Market is on in the school holidays for rangatahi and tamariki  to showcase their creativity. Kids get to be stall holders! The regular market is on too with a wide range of art and craft, produce, preloved and new clothing, garden art, trees and plants, tools, books and homeware.

Peter Pan
