What is open at "Red" in the Traffic Light COVID-19 Protection Framework for kids and families?

|Auckland moved to Traffic Light “Red” in the COVID-19 Protection Framework on Friday 3 December 2021 and this means for the summer school holidays most places are open for vaccination people aged 12 years plus and unvaccinated children to visit.
At Red you are legally required to provide your “My Vaccine Pass” if you are aged 12 years and over to enter places that have vaccination requirements in place under the traffic light system. You will not be asked to provide your My Vaccine Pass to access basic needs services, such as supermarkets, public transport and essential healthcare.
Remember to keep scanning QR codes, or keep another record of where you and your family go. Each venue has it’s own specific rules for visiting, so check their websites (which are linked in the article below) to find out their visiting procedures and if there are any recent changes before you visit with your family.
Vector Wero is open at all of the Traffic Light Levels in Manukau for rafting, kayaking and paddle boarding family fun. Tamariki Rafting, Birthday Party Packages and River Rush Rafting are limited to six participants per raft until 31 December 2021. After 3 January 2022 they can hold up to seven participants again.
To meet government guidelines, all visitors and customers will be required to give information and/or present their My Vaccine Pass (MVP) through our booking process, at Check-in or when visiting the facility. Any person who cannot present an MVP will not be allowed to enter the premises nor participate in any activity.
Snowplanet is open again from 3 December 2021 in Silverdale. Grab your family and friends to shred the terrain park or bring in the littlies to enjoy some tubing in Winter Wonderland.
If you are aged 12 or older, you will require a vaccine pass to visit Snowplanet.

JUMP trampoline park
JUMP is open at Red setting from 3 December.
Online bookings are required before arriving at JUMP. Everyone must scan in and be wearing a face mask when entering the building. It is recommended you wear a mask while at JUMP but this is not mandatory. Staff will all be wearing masks. Find out more at jump.co.nz
Most of Auckland Council Swimming Pools are open again at the Red COVID-19 Protection Framework setting.
Vaccination passes are required for Auckland Council Pools and Aquatic Centres for anyone12 years and 3 months old and over at the Red setting.
There will be capacity limits in the pools and remember to wear your mask at the receptions, but not in the pools.

Rocket Ropes is open at the Red setting
Get the kids out for some outdoor exercise fun. Rocket Ropes is well spaced out and climbers have plenty of room to and move around.

The cinemas are able to open again from Friday 3 December at Traffic Light Red.
In line with government restrictions for Cinemas, conditions of entry are Vaccine Pass, for 12 years plus, Mandatory Sign-in, Face Coverings Encouraged, In-cinema seat separation and social distancing,

FAMILY ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES
Rainbow’s End is able to open all rides and normal ticketing from Friday 3rd December with the move to Traffic Light Red.
The theme park will be open Fridays to Mondays until 17th December, then they will be open every day over the Summer Holiday period excluding Xmas day, until 9th February 2022.
At Traffic Light Red things are a little different to keep everyone safe, including new rules for masks and vaccination, and online tickets only. You will need proof of vaccination, and must wear an appropriate mask if you are aged 12 years plus, you must scan in. There will be no gate sales, and you must prebook online or by phone. Butterfly Creek is open from Wednesday to Sunday during Term time in December.

Auckland Zoo is open to limited numbers of general visitors and Zoo members at Traffic Light RED. Bookings are essential and vaccination passes mandatory (12 years+). Vaccination passes (for those aged 12+) will be a requirement for all Zoo staff and volunteers and visitors coming to the Zoo. All general visitors and members will need to show their My Vaccine Pass, along with their booking and general admission ticket or membership when they visit Auckland Zoo. Face covers are mandatory for all visitors 12+ years on site at the Zoo, except for those with medical exemptions, and when eating or drinking. Visitors must pre-book online a timed arrival slot, but you can stay as long as you want once you are at the Zoo. Learn more here.
Sealife Kelly Tarlton's, Auckland
Kelly Tarltons is open at Traffic Light Red from Thursdays to Mondays from 3 December 2021.
All guests over 12yrs will be required to show their Vaccine Certificate to enter the attraction (note children under 12yrs & guests with medical exemption will not need to provide Vaccine Certificate to visit). All staff are vaccinated at Kelly Tarlton’s. Visitors aged 12 years plus are required to wear a face mask covering at Kelly Tarlton’s. The cafe is temporarily closed, but you are welcome to bring your own food. The Shark Cage Snorkel and Penguin Passport are suspended to ensure that social distancing is suitably maintained. Daily Ticketed Capacity has significantly reduced, so visitors should pre-book online to guarantee entry.
Sculptureum’s Gardens and Galleries are open 7 days a week from 10am-4pm and their restaurant Rothko is reopening from Friday 3rd December (Wednesday-Sunday) as well as Freddie’s Lawn Bar (Friday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday) in Matakana, North Auckland.

Brick Bay Scupture Trail
The Brick Bay Sculpture Trail and The Glass House Restaurant are open at Traffic Light Red in the COVID-19 Protection Framework.
At the Red and Orange phase of the Protection Framework, all visitors are required to comply with conditions of entry, including mandatory sign-in, vaccine pass certification, wearing a face covering whilst indoors to protect themselves and others, and maintaining 1m physical distancing and hygiene measures.

Tāmaki Paenga Hira Auckland Musem is open daily from 10am to 5pm on weekdays and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays at the Red setting.
General addmission to the Museum is FREE for everyone at this time.
You will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a medical exemption for all visitors aged 12+ via My Vaccine Pass
Visitors aged 12+ are required to wear a mask at all times within the Museum, unless you are removing it to consume food or drink whilst seated at Tuitui Museum Bistro & Café, 1929 Espresso Bar or our Kai Room.
The cafes are open for both dine-in and takeaway service. The Kai Room will also be open so you can bring your own food and drink to enjoy in the Kai Room or outside the museum.
All of the museum’s galleries are open including Tāmaki Herenga Waka Stories of Auckland and SHELF-LIFE and from Sunday 5 December you can visit Sudan: A Confluence in the Museum’s Community Hub.

MOTAT Museum of Transport and Technology
MOTAT is open daily from 10am to 4pm at RED in Auckland. You do NOT need to pre-book tickets.
MOTAT has large exhibition and outdoor spaces that can be explored, and their friendly Visitor Hosts are available to answer any questions you have and assist you with enjoying your visit safely. The Trams will be operating at this level of the framework.
At RED in the Covid-19 Protection Framework, MOTAT requires that visitors aged 16+ are fully vaccinated to visit MOTAT. Please be prepared to show your ‘My Vaccine Pass’ to the Visitor Hosts at the entrance when purchasing tickets, presenting your MOTAT Mates annual pass or redeeming tickets purchased online. All MOTAT Team members will be vaccinated who you interact with.
All adults and children over the age of 12yrs are required to wear a mask while onsite (both indoors and outdoors) except when eating or drinking. The cafe is open for takeaways only.
Howick Historical Village
Howick Historical Village is open at the Red in the COVID-19 Protection Framework traffic light system.
As the village is outdoors, there is plenty of space for distancing. Picnicking in the gardens is welcome and you may bring your own food or buy something from the Homestead Cafe.
The village will be using the NZ Pass Verifier app to scan and verify your My Vaccine Pass, and if you are over 12 years old you must have a valid pass in order to visit the Howick Historical Village.
Face masks are required to be worn for visitors aged 12 and over inside any building or structure, or wherever it is not possible to maintain 2m distance. Some buildings are limited to one bubble at a time, while others are limited to two.
Face masks are recommended to be worn in outside spaces for visitors aged 12 and over, except when eating or drinking.

New Zealand Maritime Museum
The NZ Maritime Museum in Auckland City Centre is open at COVID-19 Protection framework RED daily from 10am to 4pm, with last entry at 3pm.
Visit the spacious indoor galleries, watch the midday cannon fire, and see the new family-friendly exhibition I am Island and Sea. From 11 December, weekend sailings will resume aboard Ted Ashby on Saturday and Sundays.
All visitors aged 12 years plus are required to show a valid My Vaccine Pass as proof of vaccination, sign in, and wear a face covering.

OBSERVATORY & PLANETARIUMS
Stardome in One Tree Hill has reopened. At Traffic Light Red COVID restrictions they are open at half capacity so bookings are essential. They will be open during the summer holiday excluding 25th to 28th December 2021 and 1st to 4th Jan 2022.
Telescopes are unable to run during red and orange settings, but they will be giving out ‘raincheck’ vouchers to come back to the telescopes another night.
All staff on-site are fully vaccinated, and visitors will need to wear a mask and show their vaccine pass.

Te Uru Art Waitakere Contemporary Art Gallery
Te Uru is open under the traffic light Red COVID-19 Protection Framework
Entry is via the front entrance and contract tracing is mandatory via the NZ COVID tracer app. For everyone’s safety, all visitors, staff, volunteers and contractors over the age of 12 are required to display a valid ‘My Vaccine Pass’ to enter our facilities. This will ensure Te Uru is as safe and accessible for as many in the community as possible. Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki
Aucklland Art Gallery is open at RED every day, excluding Christmas Day.
At Red all visitors are required to sign in, wear a face covering and show a valid My Vaccine Pass.
CAFES & RESTAURANTS
Cafes and Restaurants can open at the Red setting with My Vaccine Pass for 12 years+ with restrictions.
Children under the age of 12 years and 3 months do not need to provide a My Vaccine Pass to enter places with a vaccination requirement. There can be up to 100 people, based on 1-metre distancing, in a single defined space at the venue at any time. You will have to be seated and separated from other groups.

SHOPS & MARKETS
Retail shops and Markets can open at Red setting with restricitons.
Shops, including outdoor markets and banks, can open with capacity limits based on 1-metre distancing.
They can choose to follow My Vaccine Pass requirements, though this will not affect their capacity limits. They can require you to show your My Vaccine Pass to be at the shop.
You must wear a face covering when shopping and going to a bank.
PARKS & Beaches
Playgrounds, skate parks, pump tracks and basketball courts are open. Auckland Regional Parks and open for exercise and recreation.
Beaches are open at the Red setting.
Auckland Public Libraries are open during RED.
Inside the libraries, a ‘My Vaccine Pass’ will be required for anyone aged 12 years three months and over. Please have your ‘My Vaccine Pass’ ready to present to the team when you visit. The vaccination pass requirement will be in place until at least 17 January 2022.
