Cirque Alice is coming to Auckland: Everything families need to know about the spectacular Wonderland circus show
Cirque Alice is bringing a spectacular new Wonderland inspired circus experience to Auckland this August, making its New Zealand premiere at The Civic.
Following successful seasons in Australia and Singapore, Cirque Alice will run at The Civic from Friday 28 August until Sunday 6 September 2026, bringing together an international cast of world class circus artists, performers and musicians for a limited Auckland season.
If you’re looking for a memorable family outing or a spectacular live show for older children and teenagers, this is one of the biggest theatre events arriving in Auckland this year.
What is Cirque Alice?
Cirque Alice is a contemporary circus production that reimagines Lewis Carroll’s much loved story, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, through breathtaking circus acts, immersive staging and live music.
Audiences can expect:
Incredible aerial performances
High energy acrobatics
Amazing contortionists
Large scale puppetry
Comedy and magical surprises
A modern soundtrack featuring remixed classical music
The production has been created by internationally acclaimed producers Simon Painter and Tim Lawson, whose previous productions include The Illusionists, Le Noir and Cirque du Soleil’s Mad Apple.
Why families will love Cirque Alice
Rather than a traditional circus with individual acts, Cirque Alice tells a story as audiences journey through Wonderland alongside familiar characters including Alice, the Mad Hatter and the Queen of Hearts.
The combination of stunning visual effects, spectacular performances and theatrical storytelling makes it an entertaining experience for families, teenagers and adults alike.
At Auckland for Kids, we think this show is likely to appeal most to children aged around 7 years and older, particularly those who enjoy theatre, circus performances and imaginative storytelling.
