Hobsonville Point Coastal Walkway Gala Opening


Hobsonville Point, Auckland

Te Ara Manawa – Hobsonville/Onekiritea Coastal Walkway is 5km of boardwalk and paths that follows the coast around Hobsonville Point. It winds its way past the ferry landing, restaurants and Farmers Market at Catalina Bay, through treetops, and among native bush.
There will be plenty of fun activities and ice cream stops around the whole loop to keep the kids interested, and the walk connects a number of parks, including Harrier Point playground on Launch Road (featuring a giant bucket swing and flying fox overlooking the water), and the award-winning Hobsonville Point playground on Buckley Avenue. The walk is pram, cycle and scooter-friendly for little ones.

Out West Model Show

Model expo for enthusiasts and all the family.  There will be 12 model train layouts from model rail clubs of the upper North Island. Some will be huge, spanning many metres and passing specially built scenes. The locomotives range in size from a few centimetres to half a metre, reproducing the greatest machines of the worlds railways. Children will be able to operate trains on their own layout and have a turn at running the radio controlled models.Radio controlled cars will race around a circuit and boats will navigate in their own pool. Model ships and aeroplanes will be on display and creative modellers will show off the best of their work.
