An outrageous twist on the children’s story The Wizard of Oz performed with a South Auckland flavour, The Wizard of Ōtāhuhu is a must-see theatre production for this April School Holidays and another clever fairy-tale makeover from Māngere Arts Centre – Ngā Tohu o Uenuku. From rap to gospel, hip hop to high kicks and wrestling moves, The Wizard of Ōtāhuhu is full of energy and humour that will have you laughing and wanting to get up and join in! This is a show for the whole family and a true South Auckland community collaboration.

The Bayview Kids Market has a range of Fun Stalls run by our Bayview Kids. Stalls include food, crafts, 2nd hand toys, books and activities. As the stalls are run by kids, it is also a great opportunity for children to come and learn about handling money, as many of our stall holders are learning too! You don’t need kids to join us, everyone is welcome!  To make it easier for the children, we encourage you to bring coins or small notes to spend.

Outside The Box – Art Installation

Experience the balloon room installation. This will be a unique visual experience that allows you to get inside the artwork and enjoy true sensory involvement. Everyone is invited to draw an image on a balloon and add it to the room in exchange for another balloon, once the artwork has been experienced. Then each person takes a balloon home with them, displaying a message or drawing from someone else in the community. This is for everyone young and old, so head down with friends and family to have a go and be part of the art.

The Big Hoot Auckland 2018

Super-sized owl sculptures will descend on Auckland for the Haier Big Hoot art trail. Over 100 owls will roost in parks, public spaces, malls and libraries, turning Auckland into a virtual aviary. There are 47 giant owls (1.65m) that have been individually designed by Kiwi and International artists.  Joining the giant owls are 60 owlets (90cm) – many designed by Auckland school students. The giant owls at the end for the trail will be auctioned off to fundraise for Child Cancer Foundation.Find them all using the trail map within the Big Hoot 2018 app – available to download from the App Store or Google Play from 01 March, and collect rewards as you go.

Butterfly Creek School Holiday Fun
