Te Reo Māori classes – Ngā Pūtake

Auckland Museum
Saturday 22 September 2018: 10:00am to Noon
Te Reo Māori classes – Ngā Pūtake will be offered to the public. The learning method  is Te Ataarangi (utilising the Cuisenaire rods or rākau). This is a unique learn by doing/kinaesthetic language teaching method that was developed for Te Reo Māori by pioneers of the revitalisation movement. One of the unique aspects of the classes are that Te Reo Māori is the only language to be spoken or heard from the time class starts until the time class finishes. This is made possible by listening, watching and copying the teachers and other students in the class. This class environment enables everyone to feel and engage on the same level – whether you have no Te Reo Māori or you have some Te Reo Māori. Everyone learns together at their own pace while learning outcomes are effective and significant.
