Auckland’s leading contemporary and performance-focused music school, Eliette’s Music Academy (EMA), has opened a new location at Botany Town Centre at the start of Term 2, expanding access to world-class music education for families in East Auckland. A new Takapuna location will open in Term 3, offering even more students the chance to experience EMA’s vibrant music community.
The Botany campus will begin weekly music lessons in Term 2, offering children and families in East Auckland the chance to become part of EMA’s dynamic and creative music community.
Since opening a small studio near Albany Village in 2016, founder Eliette Roelants has grown the academy into a powerhouse of musical education, now welcoming over 1,000 students each week across multiple locations. A significant milestone came in 2022, with the expansion into Grafton in partnership with longtime teacher and business partner, Nick Douch.
This year, Eliette’s remarkable journey was recognised at the 2024 North Harbour Business Awards, where she received the Young Business Person of the Year award – a testament to her inspiring leadership and contribution to Auckland’s music education scene.
A Music School Like No Other
EMA caters to all ages and stages, from toddlers taking their first musical steps to teens and adults ready to master an instrument or hit the stage. Programmes on offer include:
Music Rhapsody: Designed for children aged 2 to 6, this early childhood programme encourages creativity and confidence through music exploration and play.
Simply Music Piano: A revolutionary method that gets students playing real music from their very first lesson.
Musical Futures: A group programme that allows students to try multiple instruments while building teamwork and performance skills.
Musical Theatre, Songwriting & Music Production: For older students wanting to explore stagecraft, composition, or studio production.
Private Lessons: Individual tuition available in Singing, Drums, Guitar (including electric, acoustic, ukulele, and bass), Saxophone, and Violin.
EMA isn’t just a place to learn – it’s a community of passionate musicians. With over 30 public performances in 2024 alone, students gain real-world experience and confidence. EMA also runs band programmes and adult choirs, bringing people together through shared musical experiences.
Giving Back: The Green Room
EMA’s charitable arm, The Green Room, takes music into hospitals and healthcare settings and supports youth mental health through music therapy and outreach programmes. It’s just one of the many ways EMA uses the power of music to make a difference.
