Who doesn’t love fresh crisp locally grown apples? We have found the orchards and farms for families to visit this autumn to pick your own apples in Auckland, New Zealand.
Although apples are available all year in New Zealand, the apple picking season usually only lasts for 10 weeks in New Zealand and starts in late January and ends in late April or early May.
Windmill Orchard is 5 minutes from Albany and welcomes families to Pick Your Own apples during the harvest season from February until the end of May. Kids will enjoy being able to choose the fruit they like for you to pick straight off the tree to take home and enjoy the crunchy fresh apples. You can also PYO pears during March at Windmill Orchard.
There is an entrance fee of $4 per person for children 10 years old and over and adults. The entrance fee is refunded if that person picks and pays for 1kg or more of fruit. As a tip remember bring your own containers to pick into and the grass can be wet so gumboots are good for the kids.
