Here is our pick of the BEST places to take the kids strawberry picking in Auckland. Sometimes the strawberry farms can be closed due to bad weather or lack of fruit, so you are best to ring to check they will be open on the day you are planning to go with your family. Remember to bring your hat and sunblock with you on warm days.

Sweet Red 

61 Bradley Road, Helensville, Auckland, New Zealand – Pick your own
Pick your own strawberries from Boxing Day 26 December 2019 to early Feb 2020: 9:00am to 6:00pm

The farm is over 40ha in size with 20 dedicated strawberry fields, you and your family can easily spend a fun day exploring the farm and finding the yummiest strawberries to pick. 

At the farm shop you can purchase real strawberry ice creams, smoothies and milkshakes  made from the “Sweet Red” strawberries.


Zaknich Farms Strawberry Gardens

Strawberry fields in Waitakere owned by the Zaknich family, open for pick your own in summer. It is best to bring your own containers to pick into for transporting home securely, and to ensure they don’t turn into jam from the heat before you get home.

Cost: FREE entry and strawberries are $5 per kilo.

Pick your own strawberries. Afterwards you can buy fruit ice cream and youghurt, gelato, smoothies and coffee.

Cost: Entry fee is set at $8.50 per adult and the first kilo of strawberries is FREE.  All subsequent kilos are charged at $8.50 per kilo.  There is no entry fee for children under 12 when accompanied by a parent. You will be supplied with a bucket, but its a good idea to bring a hat and sunblock.

Strawberry fields are open for pick your own strawberries from December to early February each year. Bring your family to enjoy the fresh air, sunshine and juicy red strawberries. No entry fee is charged, and you pay by the kilo for the strawberries you pick.

As well as growing berries they offer real fruit ice creams and  locally sourced Roma coffee.  Plus the kids can meet  and feed the goat kids and lambs.

Enjoy a fun day out picking your own strawberries and raspberries from December to late January each year. Entry is $10 per person to pick and eat. Kids under 8 years old are free with a paying person. Then you pay $7.50 per kilo of strawberries to takeaway.
