The winning images of Wildlife Photographer of the Year 59 will be announced at the Awards ceremony in London in October 2023, and this exhibition at Auckland Museum will be the first time they’re on display in Aotearoa.

Three planetarium films exploring human spaceflight will be running: Astronaut(6.30PM), Dawn of the Space Age (7.45PM) and To Space and Back (9PM).

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is a global competition that has showcased the natural world’s most astonishing and challenging sights for almost 60 years. Organised by the Natural History Museum in London, the competition attracts the world’s most impressive nature photographers, showcasing a combination of skill, luck, and above all the beauty of the natural world.
The winning images of Wildlife Photographer of the Year 59 will be announced at the Awards ceremony in London in October 2023, and this exhibition at Auckland Museum will be the first time they’re on display in Aotearoa.
The exhibition opens on Sat 9 Dec 2023 and runs until Sun 28 Apr 2024

Wildlife Photographer of the Year is a global competition that has showcased the natural world’s most astonishing and challenging sights for almost 60 years. Organised by the Natural History Museum in London, the competition attracts the world’s most impressive nature photographers, showcasing a combination of skill, luck, and above all the beauty of the natural world.
The winning images of Wildlife Photographer of the Year 59 will be announced at the Awards ceremony in London in October 2023, and this exhibition at Auckland Museum will be the first time they’re on display in Aotearoa.
The exhibition opens on Sat 9 Dec 2023 and runs until Sun 28 Apr 2024

Come along for a close encounter with marine creatures and learn how we can improve the health of Te Waitematā as part of the Te Ara Tukutuku project to regenerate Wynyard Point at the Base Spaces in Wynyard Quarter. With special guests from the Leigh Marine Laboratory for a weekend of interaction and education.
The weekend is all about understanding what thriving and less-healthy marine environments look like, and understanding what we can do to encourage a healthy marine environment. Have a close-up view of marine creatures through a microscope, touch some seastars and urchins, and learn how to monitor the marine environment.
This is a child-friendly weekend so come and play for as long as you’ve got!
