This year from 7AM, the Museum will be open to everyone for a day of remembrance, tours, music, and poetry on ANZAC Day, Sun 25 April.

However, the Anzac Day Dawn Service will be a special invitation only ceremony. Due to the ongoing Omicron outbreak, the Dawn Service will not be open to the public.

What’s happening on ANZAC Day:

CARMINI CHOIR FROM CARMEL COLLEGE AND ROSMINI COLLEGE
7AM, WWI HALL OF MEMORIES, LEVEL 2
As the sun rises on Anzac Day, join the combined Carmel and Rosmini College choir, Carmini, as they welcome the Dawn in the evocative surroundings of the WWI Hall of Memories, with a programme of reflection and remembrance. Carmini received a commended award at the Big Sing national choral competition last year. Carmini performs under the musical direction of Robert Howell.

HANDEL CONSORT & QUIRE
APPROX 7.15AM, DIRECTLY FOLLOWING CARMINI, WWI HALL OF MEMORIES, LEVEL 2
Also under the musical direction of Robert Howell, enjoy a wide range of pieces from the renaissance to contemporary composers from the Handel Consort & Quire. Formed in 2003, Handel Consort & Quire is an ensemble of singers and instrumentalists committed to performing Handel’s lesser-known and less-performed works to the highest musical standard with attention to baroque stylistic detail.

MILITARY RESEARCH SERVICE
7AM – 5PM, POU MAUMAHARA MEMORIAL DISCOVERY CENTRE, LEVEL 2
In Pou Maumahara, you can discover more about a service person using Online Cenotaph and other library resources.

PINWHEEL POPPIES 
7AM – 3PM, WEIRD AND WONDERFUL, LEVEL 1
Create your own pinwheel red poppy to take home as a reminder of your day.

Join the museum’s experienced guides and explore the stories of the First and Second World Wars.

LEST WE FORGET POETRY COMPETITION FINALISTS
9.30AM, WWII HALL OF MEMORIES, LEVEL 2
Join us in support of the finalists of the Lest We Forget Poetry Competition, as they read their winning entries. Finalists were asked to create a response to the annual theme: A Personal Story, in poetry or prose.

Note: Some roads around the Museum may be closed due to Anzac Day commemorations.
