Artist Workshop Series for Kids: Frottage

Kids aged 4-10 are invited to this free art class where the magnificent trees and plants in Monte Cecilia park will inspire us to explore different ways of applying paint, chalk and crayon leaf rubbings and drawing. Led by artist Neal Palmer.

In this FREE Artist Workshop Series local artist Neal Palmer shares his inspiration and skills with children on Sunday 20 August at The Pah Homestead.

Using the magnificent trees and plants in Monte Cecilia park as inspiration, this class will explore a variety of age-appropriate painting and drawing techniques – including different ways of applying paint, chalk and crayon leaf rubbings and drawing. Led by artist Neal Palmer, our young artists will also be looking at the forms of tree branches to get a basic understanding of composition in an artwork.

No reservation required, but spaces will be limited and available on a first-come basis.

What is Frottage?

Frottage is a technique in which paper or canvas is placed over a grainy surface and rubbed with a crayon or charcoal. It was often used by Surrealist artists to create textural effects.
