Event Details

This guided walk will be lead by local tree expert Dr. Mike Wilcox, who will take you on a journey around the park to discover and learn about many of our amazing trees. You will see native trees, exotic trees from many lands, conifers, broadleaves, and some special notable trees, as well as getting to know the trees by their shape, bark, foliage, and sometimes fruit. Come along with all your tree questions at the ready!

Please dress for the weather conditions, wear sturdy shoes and bring a drink bottle with you. This is an accessible friendly walk. To attend our class you will need to present your My Vaccine Pass on arrival and scan our QR code. Masks are required while inside Huia Lodge, but not required for the outdoor component of the class. If you feel more comfortable wearing them the whole time, we support your decision.

Meet at the Huia Lodge Discovery Hub at 10am on Sunday 15th May.

Cornwall Park Trust Board

Cornwall Park is the oasis at the heart of Auckland city for New Zealanders. The park celebrates the city and its inhabitants with music, events and activities. It is more than just a park — it is 425 acres (172 hectares) of New Zealand’s living history, weaving together our heritage, ecology, agriculture, wildlife, mauri, and community within its lush landscape. The Cornwall Park Trust Board, who manages and operates Cornwall Park, continues to honour Sir John Logan Campbell's wish was that the park be free for every New Zealander to enjoy, forever.
