The 2019 Choreographic Lab Artists: Villa Junior Lemanu & Raisedinland Iose present their developed pieces.

Atali’i O Le CREZENT (Sons of the CREZENT) by Villa Junior Lemanu is a personal look into what happens with gentrification in Wymondley, South Auckland. It was a scary thought thinking of my family (who still live there) and childhood friends having to move out and finding someplace new to live. All of the good, bad, funny, special and life-defining memories came back to me and how much the community shaped many young poly kids like myself to survive in this world.

‘XY’ ONLY by Raisedinland Iose looks at the strength of a woman’s physically and how far I can push it. I look to use my background in traditional faataupati (Samoan slap dance) to challenge the physical abilities of females that are not of pacific island decent. An added bonus to this piece will be the addition of a choir
