Hairspray outdoor free cinema

Relax and enjoy a free screening of Hairspray, part of Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau’s outdoor summer cinema line-up in Aotea Square. Come early to secure your spot, bring something comfy to sit on and catch the pre-movie entertainment. The movies starts at 6:30pm.

In 1960s Baltimore, dance-loving teen Tracy Turnblad (Nikki Blonsky) auditions for a spot on ‘The Corny Collins Show’ and wins. She becomes an overnight celebrity, a trendsetter in dance, fun and fashion. Perhaps her new status as a teen sensation is enough to topple Corny’s reigning dance queen and bring racial integration to the show.

Hugely successful on Broadway and in film, this witty show carries a serious message of diversity and acceptance.
