February 28 is the global Rare Disease Day.
It’s not rare to have a rare disorder. Rare Conditions affect more than 377,000 (8%) of New Zealanders. Collectively, rare disorders affect more Kiwis than diabetes.
How can you help?
SHARE FOR RARE in the week of 25 February to 1 March 2019.
Host a shared morning or afternoon tea, it can be as large or small as you like. Set a date , choose a venue (at work, your home or a local café) and invite your friends, family and colleagues to catch up and support the rare disease community. Your guests give a donation which you pass on to New Zealand Organisation for Rare Diseases (NZORD).
NZORD is the voice of the more than 377,000 Kiwis with a rare disease and we work hard to support and advocate for patients and their families/whānau. Your generous support allows NZORD to continue to work for a fairer health system for everyone.
Chances are you know at least one person with a rare disease. You can ‘Share for Rare’ in recognition of the person you know, or share the stories of ordinary New Zealanders from their website.
You can submit the money you raise at your shared morning or afternoon tea through NZORD’s Donation webpage
