The New Zealand Maritime Museum’s steam tug SS Puke was built by E. Thompson and Son at Aratapu, towards the end of the 19th century. Carrying just four passengers at a time, SS Puke steaming trips head out from the museum and last 15 – 20 minutes each.
SS Puke trips depart on Sundays from 10:30am to 3pm. No bookings required.You can climb on board every Saturday and the first Sunday of every month.
All passengers must wear life-jackets, which will be supplied by the museum. The NZ Maritime Museum supplies life jackets for children from 10kg up to the age of 14 years. Children under 10kg cannot join a Puke trip.
