Please note: this is for the FREE activations happening in Aotea Square only, as part of the overall Kapa Haka Regional Competitions. Please be aware tickets for the competition performances are SOLD OUT, so if you wish to watch the performances, Auckland Live will be live streaming them on the Auckland Live Digital Stage, this Saturday only.
More than 500 of Tāmaki Makaurau’s best kapa haka performers will contend in a fierce competition to represent Auckland at the Te Matatini Traditional Māori Performing Arts Festival.
Inside the Aotea Centre will be epic performances and rivalry as current national champions Ngā Tumanako are challenged by former victors, Te Waka Huia and Te Roopu Manutaki in an intense battle of kapa haka.
Outside you can soak up the atmosphere in Aotea Square where there’ll be kai, waiata and the occasional surprise performance by some of Aotearoa’s top kapa haka performers.
Nau piki mai rā! Ngā kapa haka o Tāmaki, ki te hoe!
