Event Details
The Heart Dances – The Journey of The Piano is a documentary by Director Rebecca Tansley (Crossing Rachmaninoff) that follows the brothers from Prague to Aotearoa as they take up our invitation to expand their adaptation, made in Germany in 2015, of Jane Campion’s film. Tansley captures an up-close and candid look at creating a new ballet, with many layers of storytelling and diverse approaches to retelling an iconic Kiwi narrative.
Enjoy rare backstage footage of RNZB dancers and staff as all the elements of a live performance come together – the music, the theatricality, the costumes and the expressive and deeply moving choreography.
This documentary is rated PG.
Screening Friday 15 May 7.30pm, Saturday 16 May 1.30pm and Sunday 17 May 10.30am
