Event Details

The Importance of Being Earnest, A Trivial Comedy for Serious People by Oscar Wilde was first performed back in 1895 at the Saint James’s Theatre in London.

In this comedy of pretences, society gentlemen, Jack and Algernon, fabricate falsehoods to escape their tedious social obligations. High farce, razor wit and a cutting self-awareness of Victorian life make The Importance of Being Earnest Wilde’s most popular play. It’s a timeless piece of theatre history full of thrills and laughs that remains relatable to all ages, even today.

Oscar Wilde’s ability to poke fun at society and himself while being unapologetically self-possessed is an inspiration for all artists.

Enjoy watching this classic at the Pah Homestead surrounded by music, fine architecture and georgeous gardens.
