Event Details

An event to welcome the artwork Boy Walking to the Mount Eden and Balmoral neighbourhood

Potters Park will soon have a new resident: the artwork Boy Walking by renowned New Zealand artist Ronnie van Hout. This striking new sculpture will stride along the edge of the park and will be a significant new addition to Auckland Council’s public art collection.

The New Kid In Town is a family-friendly event to welcome Boy Walking to Potters Park. Come along and join a neighbourhood party, with a free morning tea for the first one hundred visitors, live music from Encore, and arts and crafts activities. You can even make your own version of the artwork to take home.

Ronnie van Hout is a NZ born artist whose work is widely admired and collected in New Zealand and Australia. He says that Boy Walking “is an image of positivity, determination, of movement toward the future, and the optimism latent in discovery.”

If raining, the event will shift across the road to the Mount Eden War Memorial Hall.
