Following a discussion with representatives of the local Chinese community, Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) has decided to cancel this yearâs Auckland Lantern Festival in relation to the evolving Novel Coronavirus situation. The Vector Lights for Lantern show will also be cancelled.
Aucklandâs largest annual festival and New Zealandâs largest Chinese cultural festival, the Auckland Lantern Festival attracts nearly 200,000 people every year. It showcases traditional and contemporary Chinese culture, and Aucklandâs Chinese stories and communities.
