Event Details

Come join Te Kura Moana Experience Marine Reserves for a FREE guided kayak through the beautiful Whangateau Harbour.

Spot native wildlife with Experiencing Marine Reserves, learn about the local waterways and catchment with Whitebait Connection and get expert kayaking instruction from Auckland Sea kayaks.

This event provides a taster into kayaking and freshwater workshop, please only sign up to this event if you can commit to the full 2hr 15min time slot. Expect to spend approximately 50mins on the water kayaking and 45mins in the freshwater workshop.

Age requirements: Children younger than 8 will not be able to participate. Children aged 8-12 need to have a confident adult in the back of their kayak. Children under 13 need an adult companion. Please note that the maximum weight for the sea kayaks is 120kg per person.

Registrations are essential.
This event is in partnership with Auckland Sea Kayaks and Whitebait Connection and is funded by the Hibiscus and Bays Local Board and Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa. EMR has the support of The Bobby Stafford-Bush Foundation across their Auckland Events.

Please arrive at least 15mins prior and check in at the tent at Whangateau Reserve, 511 Leigh Road

Cancellation policy: If you give less than 24hrs notice when cancelling your registration or you no show without a valid excuse (i.e COVID, or other illness) then you will be sent an invoice of $20 per person.

Te Kura Moana – Experiencing Marine Reserves runs a series of free and subsidised events over the summer months – we rely on your support to make them happen. We appreciate donations, either cash/eftpos on the day, online or by giving a koha of your time volunteering at a future event. Some people donate $5-10pp.
