Get ready to celebrate the Chinese New Year in 2026 at the Whau Chinese New Year Festival. Celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse at the Olympic Park Playground with a day packed full of colour, culture, and fun – for FREE!

This year’s festival has something for everyone:

  • Be amazed by lion and dragon dances and a 100-person square dance performance.

  • Enjoy shadow puppetry shows and other vibrant cultural performances.

  • Bounce around on bouncy castles, test your skills with Hungerball, and try traditional Chinese sports like golf, soccer, and diablo.

  • Meet furry friends at the Mobile Barnyard, and get creative with calligraphy and craft activities.

  • Treat yourself at delicious food stalls, and don’t miss our free popcorn and candy floss for registered attendees!
