See Bug Lab, an interactive science exhibition at Auckland Zoo, developed by Te Papa and Weta Workshop in the summer school holidays.
Enter the ‘operating theatre’ of the iridescent jewel wasp and watch her turn a cockroach into a zombie – to feed the kids of course. Help the Japanese honeybees defeat the giant hornet, their greatest enemy. The kids (and the adults too) can test themselves against the bugs with games of skill.
Every bug has a secret, and your families goal is to discover it at Bug Lab. Precision flight, mind control, swarm intelligence… bugs did it all first, and they’re still doing it better. What would the future look like if humans could match their brilliance?
Bug Lab is on at Auckland Zoo from Wednesday 20 December 2017. Bug Lab sessions are booked in one hour time slots, so it is advisable to book your tickets here ahead of your visit to ensure you get to go to Bug Lab on the day you visit. Children under 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult to visit Bug Lab.
