Elemental Hub, Aotea Ice Rink, Auckland Night Markets and more
Elemental AKL is the Auckland’s new winter festival in Tāmaki Makaurau with a month of light shows, food, live performance and more this July. The Elemental Hub at Aotea Square is the heart of the new festival.There will be lots for all ages to enjoy and is a fun place to go with the kids in the school holidays or a family weekend outing.
Snugs
For a special family treat book a Snug, book one of the geodesic domes for a private family and friends dining experience complete with heaters, comfy furniture and blankets. Children are allowed in the Snugs, and they even had a kids lunch option for $10.
You need to book your Snug online, and choose your session time and what food platters, desserts or drinks you would like. If on the day you decide you want more to eat or drink, you are welcome to buy food from the Auckland Night Markets or from the Box Container Store to bring into your Snug. For each Snug there is a $50 minimum spend for daytime sessions before 6pm and a $100 minimum spend for evening sessions after 6pm. Up to eight people can fit in a Snug, so you can always ask your friends or family to go with you to make it a more affordable outing.
Aotea Square Ice Rink and Ice Slide
All month long, the Ice Rink will light up the Square with icy adventures including themed parties and skating lessons, plus the enormously popular 35-metre, multi-level ice slide complete with inflatable tubes for guaranteed super slippery, sliding fun.
The Ice Rink is open from 10am every day and closes at 10pm on weekdays, 11pm on Friday and Saturdays and at 9pm on Sundays. You can buy your tickets online.
Auckland Night Market
For the first time ever Auckland Night Markets will be at Aotea Square. Choose from authentic cuisine from all over the world at street food prices. The night markets will be open every day from midday until late so you can take the kids for lunch in the school holidays or weekends or the family out for dinner after a skate around the Ice Rink.
Auckland Live Digital Stage
Don’t miss the FREE Auckland Live Digital Stage at the Elemental Hub. The digital stage will be screening visual delights from the worlds of the arts in New Zealand and around the world.
Box Container Bar
The BOX Container Bar is a bright red, pop-up container in Aotea Square selling tasty snacks and hot and cold drinks, and set against the big screen backdrop of the Auckland Live Digital Stage. There is a new covered courtyard next to the Bar where soak up the atmosphere of the Elemental Hub. Plus on Thursday and Friday nights from 6 to 8pm there will live music to enjoy.
