It dosen’t feel like Christmas unless you have been to the Franklin Road Christmas Lights. Although this is busy it’s one of our family favourite annual Christmas events to go to in Auckland.
At the heart of this treasured tradition are the Franklin Road residents who produce the event, by the community, for the community.

MOTAT CHRISTMAS LIGHTS EVENT
Over twelve spectacular nights, enjoy a festive wonderland of stunning light displays, live music, tram rides, carol singers and a visit from Santa at MOTAT. Enjoy delicious kai while you explore the heritage buildings adorned in sparkling lights.
Check out the grand Te Rākau Kirihimete Nui, the big Christmas Tree, along with unique and beautifully lit photo opportunities. Spend a magical night with friends and whānau at MOTAT’s Christmas Lights 2024.
Cost: Adults are $10. Kids aged 5 to 15 are $5 each and kids under 5 are FREE.
Otara Block Christmas Lights

Every year the residents on the Otara block light up their houses for everyone to enjoy.Bring your friends, a picnic mat, and your Christmas spirit!
Enjoy dazzling light displays created by the amazing locals, live street entertainment and you can purchase delicious kai from the food stalls.
Please park to enjoy the lights. There is one way access enter via Everitt Road and Exit via Clayton road for the Otara Block and enter via Johnstone Road and exit via Hills Road for the Hamill Road lights.

The Counties Energy Christmas Lights Trains at Night at Glenbrook Vintage Railway

Christmas Lights Trains Event Information
Glenbrook Vintage Railway will be lighting up Franklin with festive cheer this year with its award winning Christmas experience. The Counties Energy Christmas Lights Trains at Night event will see the charitable organisation’s trains, station and buildings dressed in Christmas lights, with a special Christmas Express train service, visits from Santa, a Christmas market and much more. Trains leave approximately every half hour to the workshops and return.
Price: Under 2’s are FREE; General admission $18 each. Tickets include one train ride and entry.

Event information
Throughout December selected trees at Te Korowai Atawhai Mercy Hospice will be adorned with thousands of cascading lights, each one representing an enduring bond with a loved one. By dedicating a light, you’re making it possible for Mercy Hospice to support others facing life-limiting illnesses.
The gates are open and lights will be on between 8pm to 10.30pm.

The Christmas Walkthrough is a FREE show suitable for all ages. In just half an hour, you will walk through four incredible scenes of wonder and surprise. Meet larger than life characters, listen to festive songs and experience Christmas love, joy and peace like never before! There’s no need to book, the friendly door hosts move the queue along quickly, so turn up on the night with your friends and whānau. After the show there’s an opportunity to hang out in our Christmas lounge, with tea, coffee, conversation, a photo booth and fun activities for the kids!
The Christmas Light Show illuminates the front of the building. You can see this every night from the 1st December until the 23rd December from 8pm until late.
