Snowplanet is open on Boxing Day and even opens on Christmas Day in 2024! Snowplanet is just a short drive from Auckland, Snowplanet offers families a unique escape to a winter wonderland where they can enjoy snow sports, tubing, and frosty adventures regardless of the season.

Auckland Zoo

Visit Auckland Zoo and admire the animals with your family on Boxing Day the 26th December.  The zoo is closed on Christmas but reopens in time for Boxing Day. Enjoy a family swim at Parnell Baths, a historic saltwater pool with a children’s area, slides, and plenty of space for splashing around and having aquatic fun. Parnell Baths closes on Christmas Day but will be open on Boxing Day from 11am to 6pm.

Take a leisurely stroll through the Auckland Botanic Gardens, offering wide-open spaces and themed gardens perfect for kids to roam, explore, and appreciate the beauty of nature. The gardens are open from 8am to 8pm  and the Visitor Centre is open from 8am to 4:30pm in Summer.

Kelly Tarlton’s Sea Life Aquarium

Orakei, Central Auckland

Dive into an underwater world at Kelly Tarlton’s Sea Life Aquarium, where children can marvel at a variety of marine life, including sharks, penguins, and tropical fish, and even enjoy interactive touch pools. Kelly Tarltons is open on Boxing Day from 9:30am to 5pm with the last entry at 4pm. They don’t even close for Christmas in 2024, so you could always visit on Christmas Day if you want to.

Maritime Museum
