Whether your kids want to just feel the buzz of riding on top of the water or you want to challenge yourself by hitting the obstacles, Rixen NZ can help you do it! Gazebos, BBQ, Fridge and paddle boards to cruise the safe shallow lagoon are available for families to use on site before and after your lessons.

Terms 1, 2 and 4 after school classes on Mondays and/or Wednesdays for eight weeks.
For kids and teens aged 5 to 18 years old.
The Junior Surfers Club is a fantastic way for your kids and teens to build ocean confidence, make new friends and learn to surf! Each child will be assigned to an instructor at the beginning of the term and will have the same instructor for the entire program. All equipment is provided including wetsuits and surfboards or students are given the option to bring their own. Group sizes are limited with a maximum of 6 students to 1 coach. Should conditions not be suitable for surfing, other activities will be provided. Appropriate coaching, training and supervision is given at all times.
2 hour casual surf lessons
Te Arai Beach
2-hour surf lessons are perfect for first timers, beginners, or those simply wanting to brush up on a few techniques. Lessons take place on Auckland’s favourite east coast surf beach where small groups are taught by experienced instructors/ You can buy singular lessons, or book 3, 5 or 10 lesson packages.
All equipment is provided including wetsuits, rash vests and surfboards. Each surfer progresses through to their next level and you will be standing riding waves by the end of your first lesson!

New Zealand Surf Life Saving Clubs
Surf Life Savings Junior Surf programme is for Nippers kids aged from 7 to 13 years old. It’s a great way for kids to be active and learn how to enjoy the beach safely. Nippers first learn about surf awareness and beach safety with fun as the priority. As they progress through the various age groups, they pick up surf lifesaving skills like the basics of resuscitation, first aid and identifying beach hazards. There is also the opportunity to participate in the Surf Lifesaving Sport carnivals which offer numerous beach and water focused activities, tailored to specific age groups.
Rookie Lifeguard Programme
Surf Life Saving Clubs in Auckland
The Rookie Lifeguard Programme helps junior surf members prepare to be a Surf Lifeguard. The course promotes “practical lifeguarding” for teenagers aged 13 years and over who are able to swim 200 metres and are a current member of a Surf Life Saving Club in New Zealand. Rookie Lifeguards are asked to do patrols alongside a mentor, learning what it takes to become a surf lifeguard in a safe and enjoyable way.
