Myers Park Playground
Myers Park playground was upgraded by the Waitemata Local Board in November 2014 and a small splashpad water play feature was added in 2016. There are only a few inner city playgrounds in Auckland and this is one of our favourite ones.
The fun inner city playground has swings, a giant basket swing, different sized slides, peep hole walls, monkey bars, oversized bird and insect sculptures to climb and play on, a giant kamo kamo squash to play in this urban magical garden themed playspace.
The oversized canopies are like giant flowers, they are beautiful to look at but they don’t provide alot of shade directly over the playground on a hot summer day. The splashpad operates from September to May each year. There is a path for scooters and bikes that winds though the park as well.
We think the playground is suited most to preschoolers and primary school aged children although older children will still enjoy parts of the playground like the giant basket swing too. The surrounding park is a good spot for a family picnic in the city and has space to bring a ball to play with and there are lots of beautiful old trees to provide shade.
